Depending upon your market, summer may be a slow time for you, which makes it a great time to focus on thanking your customers with promotional swag. Think about the goodwill you can create by simply sending a sleeve of golf balls or other summer-appropriate item like a beach towel, can coozie, t-shirt, or cup. These items are practical, useful, and relatively inexpensive to buy in bulk and print your logo on, and any extras can be used for trade show giveaways or even rewards for exceptional employees.
How do your marketing efforts differentiate you from your competitors? Think about using those points to drive customer engagement. One great example is Chick-fil-A, who will celebrate “Cow Appreciation Day” this year on July 12. Their clever campaigns feature cows encouraging people to eat more chicken, so anyone who dresses up in some fashion as a cow on the 12th will receive a free entree. Krispy Kreme is another great company for driving customer engagement via their marketing efforts, such as their upcoming 79th birthday (bonus points for not being a round number!) on July 13th, when they’re offering a dozen doughnuts for 79 cents with any purchase of a dozen doughnuts. To further add humor to their message, they translated their years in business to “dog” years and tied a clever email subject of “bark your calendars” with an adorable image of a puppy wearing a birthday party hat and sprinkles on his nose.
