When to Switch Jewelry Fulfillment Partners

Updated October 2026

Every warehouse has an off week. When the same mistakes keep landing on your most expensive pieces, and your partner can't make them stop, it's time to look elsewhere.

A jewelry brand should think about switching partners when these problems keep coming back after it has raised them:

  • losses the carrier pays only in part, because the parcel was under-declared against its jewelry cap
  • the wrong metal, size or length shipping
  • outer packaging that shows what's inside
  • high-value parcels delivered without a signature
  • inventory that comes up short with no explanation
  • slow handling of high-value returns

The pattern matters more than any one miss, especially when your current partner can't fix it.

Before you decide

Telling a bad week from a partner you have outgrown

A carrier runs late, a count is off once, a parcel goes missing. Every 3PL has days like that. If you leave over one of them, you swap a problem you understand for one you don't, and you take on a move you didn't need. Look instead at whether the same mistake keeps hitting the pieces that earn your margin. Then ask your partner what they will change, and watch whether the change holds.

Jewelry raises the stakes. A lost parcel of everyday goods turns into a claim with the carrier. A fine piece lost on a label capped well below its value is mostly written off. These costly problems also tend to show up in the same few places.
