Electrostatic discharge invisible to the eye can still degrade or kill a circuit board, which is why the category standard treats static-sensitive units differently from general merchandise, with anti-static handling and packaging built around that risk. Fragile glass-and-screen devices similarly need cushioned, right-sized pack-out sized to the carrier network, not just to the box. The pack profile is set per SKU class, so a bare circuit board and a glass-front tablet are never treated the same way; confirm your handling profile with us for each class.

How lithium-battery SKUs are classified, gated, and routed

Lithium batteries are Class 9 dangerous goods, and the single most load-bearing data point per SKU is the watt-hour (Wh) rating, because it drives packing, labeling, documentation, and whether a parcel can fly. Compliant electronics fulfillment runs every battery SKU through the same gate.

Classify by UN number. Standalone lithium-ion cells and batteries are UN3480; standalone lithium-metal are UN3090; lithium-ion in or with equipment is UN3481; lithium-metal in or with equipment is UN3091. Power banks and similar standalone power sources classify as batteries (UN3480 or UN3090), not as equipment containing batteries, so getting that label right on the parcel is the standard to hit.

Gate on watt-hour thresholds. The watt-hour ceiling is mode-specific. For air, the excepted limit is 20 Wh per cell and 100 Wh per battery; a battery over 100 Wh is fully regulated for air, with special packaging, certified handlers, and carrier surcharges, and carries the diamond Class 9 hazard label, while units within the limit use the square lithium-battery mark. Ground (highway or rail) carries a higher excepted ceiling of 300 Wh per battery, but a package using that allowance must be marked forbidden for transport aboard aircraft and vessel. The threshold is set off the unit's own rating, captured per SKU.

Route air versus ground correctly. Air is the most restrictive lane. Standalone lithium-ion (UN3480) must ship at a state of charge not exceeding 30 percent, and a 2026 tightening is reported to extend a mandatory 30 percent state-of-charge limit to lithium-ion packed with equipment (UN3481) over 2.7 Wh as of January 1, 2026. Class 9 hazard labels and durable UN markings are required on every package, with Cargo Aircraft Only labels where applicable, and cells packed to prevent short circuit.

Carry the test evidence. Carriers and customs increasingly require a third-party UN 38.3 test summary, documenting altitude, thermal, vibration, and short-circuit testing, for lithium-ion SKUs; a self-authored safety data sheet is treated as insufficient. The brand supplies the UN 38.3 summary per battery SKU so it travels with the shipment record.

Enforce segregation by data. Compliant fulfillment requires a warehouse system that tracks per-SKU watt-hour rating, packed-with versus contained-in-equipment status, air-versus-ground eligibility, and documentation status, so a fully regulated item cannot ship through a standard small-battery workflow. Whether the Deposco configuration enforces this segregation automatically, and the depth of the in-house hazmat program, are confirmed with you up front rather than assumed.
