Perfume Gift Set & Coffret Kitting
Updated October 2026
A gift set holds several bottles, a tray and often a card, and every piece has to be right before the lid goes on. We build each set from its parts list, scan every piece in, and pack the glass to resist leaks.
Perfume gift set and coffret kitting means putting several finished, sealed fragrance pieces into one gift box, built from the set's parts list. As we build each set, we:
- scan every piece's barcode against the parts list
- pack the glass to resist leaks
- weigh the finished box against the limited-quantity cap

Sets versus single bottles
Why a gift set takes more work than one bottle
Shipping a single bottle takes one pick. Someone pulls it, scans it and packs it. A coffret might hold two or three perfumes and a layering oil, or a tray of miniatures, or a full-size scent with a travel atomizer and a printed card. Every one of those pieces has to be in the box, and in the right version, before it's sealed.
Customers see a missing miniature or the wrong strength as a faulty gift, and they usually find it while the gift is being opened. So we run kitting as its own job, separate from everyday pick and pack, with a check at each step.
Step by step
From a parts list to a sealed gift box
Every set goes through four steps with us.
1. Building from the parts list
Each set starts as a bill of materials, the parts list for that set. It names the exact pieces, the tray or rigid box, the inserts and the wrap. Coffrets, layering duos, discovery sets and gift-with-purchase bundles are all built from their list, using finished, sealed units, so every copy of a set comes out the same. Our team builds from the list rather than from memory of what a set usually holds.
2. Scanning every piece in
As each piece goes into the kit, we scan its barcode and check it against the bill of materials. A missing piece or the wrong SKU shows up at the bench, before the box is sealed and long before a customer opens it. Fragrance has plenty of look-alikes. The same bottle comes as eau de parfum and eau de toilette, in 30 ml and 50 ml, and as a holiday refill beside the standard one. A barcode tells those apart better than a glance does.
3. Protecting the glass inside the set
More bottles in one box means more pumps and more edges that can chip. Inside the presentation box, we fit each bottle, atomizer and splash bottle into a rigid, right-sized pack with cushioning and a leak barrier. The set is laid out so the pieces don't knock against each other in transit. Our guide to fragile-glass leak-resistant pack-out goes into how glass breaks and leaks on the way to a customer.
4. Weighing the finished box
A set with alcohol-based bottles travels by ground under the DOT limited-quantity rules, and one of them is that the whole box stays under 30 kg (66 lb). Every bottle adds to that weight, so we weigh each finished set before it ships. It also means we plan how a set is built and how it ships at the same time.
What we do and don't do
We assemble finished bottles and don't fill them
The bottles in your coffret reach us finished and sealed, from your fragrance house or co-packer. We're a 3PL, not a manufacturer, and we don't compound, blend, fill or bottle perfume. Our kitting team puts the finished bottles together into the set, checks them against the parts list and packs the box for the carrier.
No bottle is opened, decanted or repackaged on our kitting line, so each one stays sealed the way it was made, and the shipping rules stay simple. It also makes clear who does what. We build and ship the set, and your manufacturer keeps the formula, the filling and the bottle itself. Inserts, gift messages and wrap are added as we pack, through our value-added services.
Gifting season
Planning kitting around the gifting calendar
People buy coffrets to give, so orders bunch up before the holidays.
Most coffret orders arrive before the winter holidays, with smaller rushes before Valentine's Day and Mother's Day. A brand that ships a steady flow of single bottles all year suddenly needs a large run of multi-piece sets built, checked and shipped in a few weeks. The ship-by dates don't move, and a set that arrives after the holiday has missed its moment.
We plan kitting for each of those rushes, not for an average week. The parts for each set are in place before the rush starts, and every set is still built and scanned against its parts list. Our guide to fragrance peak-season scaling explains how that staging works, and the assembly itself runs through our kitting and assembly service. You can place your stock across the warehouses we operate, which together reach 99.77% of the US in 1-3 day ground, so a finished set can ship from the one nearest the recipient.
Perfume gift set and coffret kitting FAQs
What is perfume gift set and coffret kitting?
It's the work of building one gift box out of several sealed fragrance pieces, so that every copy of the set comes out the same. Coffrets, layering duos and gift-with-purchase bundles are all kitted this way. We work from a bill of materials and scan each piece's barcode as it goes in, so the contents are checked against the parts list. We pack the glass to resist leaks and weigh the finished box before it ships. Kitting puts finished units in a box. We don't compound, fill or bottle the product.
How do you make sure every set ships with the right pieces?
Every set has a bill of materials that lists each piece, and we scan each component into the kit as it's assembled. That scan is how a missing miniature or the wrong insert can be found before the box is sealed. Different sizes and strengths of one scent look nearly identical, and that's where counting by eye goes wrong most often, so the scan does the checking.
Can a fragrance gift set be shipped if it contains alcohol-based bottles?
Yes. Alcohol-based perfume and cologne are a Class 3 flammable liquid (UN1266), and inside the US they ship by ground as a DOT limited quantity under 49 CFR 173.150. They are typically Packing Group II. One of the limits is on the whole box, which has to stay under 30 kg (66 lb) gross, so we weigh every finished set before it ships. Each bottle inside also has to stay within its own size limit. Every SKU is classified from its safety data sheet when it arrives, and the glass is packed to resist leaks. How carriers take your particular scents is worth settling at quote time.
Does Fulfillment.com fill or assemble the bottles in the set?
No. We assemble finished bottles into the set, and that is all. Making, blending, filling and bottling belong to your manufacturer. Our role as a 3PL starts with the sealed bottle. The bottles reach us already sealed from your fragrance house or co-packer. Our kitting team puts them together, checks the contents against the parts list and packs the box for the carrier.
How are the glass bottles inside a coffret protected from breaking or leaking?
Each bottle, atomizer and splash bottle goes into a rigid, right-sized pack with cushioning and a leak barrier. The pack is built to guard the glass against breaking and to keep a leak from one bottle away from the rest of the box. A set needs this more than a single bottle does, because one cracked tester is not just a refund: it can ruin every other piece in the gift. Our fragile-glass leak-resistant pack-out guide explains how that packing works.
Can you handle holiday and Valentine's gift-set volume?
Most coffret orders come in the weeks before the winter holidays, with smaller rushes before Valentine's Day and Mother's Day. We plan kitting capacity around those dates to build, check and ship each set by its date, when buyers want it most. Our peak-season scaling guide covers how that capacity is staged for the gifting rush.
